Check-in Requirements

Passengers and their baggage must be checked in at least 45 minutes prior to departure for domestic flights and 60 minutes prior to departure for international flights. Government-issued photo identification is required for all passengers. Passengers traveling across any international boundary are responsible for obtaining all necessary travel documents and for complying with all government immigration and custom requirements. Passengers may be denied boarding if travel documents are not in order. Passengers must be at the gate 20 minutes prior to departure for boarding or reservations are subject to cancellation.

Notice of Overbooking Flights

When a seat cannot be provided due to an inadequate number of seats for the number of passengers holding confirmed reservations (overbooking), no one will be denied a seat until airport personnel first ask for volunteers willing to give up their reservation in exchange for a payment of the airline’s choosing. If there are not enough volunteers, passengers will be denied boarding in accordance with a particular boarding priority. With few exceptions, including failure to comply with the carrier’s check-in deadline, which is available upon request from the air carrier, persons denied boarding involuntarily are entitled to compensation governed by Federal Regulation 14 CFR 250.5. The complete rules for the payment of compensation and boarding priorities are available at all airport ticket counters and boarding locations.

Form of Payment

Effective January 7, 2015, Airstar only accepts credit or debit cards as a form of payment for tickets and fees. Cash, personal checks, cashier’s checks, traveler’s checks and money orders are not accepted.

Baggage Allowance

Don't forget to review TSA's liquid rules before traveling with a bag!

Firearms Allowance

Federal regulations require firearms in checked baggage be declared when baggage is presented for check-in. Firearms must be unloaded and packed in a locked, hard-sided case. Ammunition must be securely packaged in the manufacturer’s original container or equivalent and may not exceed 11 pounds (5kg) per - passenger. Firearms are not accepted on certain international flights.

Excess Baggage Charges

An excess baggage charge will be assessed for each piece of checked baggage over any allowance based on the fare option purchased for Airstar flights. Excess baggage is subject to oversize and overweight charges for each maximum exceeded per size and weight limits discussed above. Fees may apply to special items such as antlers, bikes, etc.(refer to Sporting Equipment & Special items on our Baggage page).

Flight and Ticket Cancellation

Except for tickets purchased for travel within 7 days (168 hours), all tickets may be cancelled for a full refund up to 24 hours after the time of purchase. You can request a refund on your Manage My Booking page through logging into My Trip or through Airstar Reservations at 801-401-9000. If it has been more than 24 hours since you purchased your ticket, you may change or cancel your ticket, subject to the terms below, at the My Flights section of your Manage My Booking or through Airstar Reservations at 801-401-9000.

If you purchased the WORKS℠, you may visit flystarline.com and change your flight(s) without any penalty, subject to any difference in fare and/or options prices, or you may cancel and retain the value of your purchase for use within one year of the transaction date as a single-use travel credit with no residual value returned to you after use (should there be any). You may complete the Online Refund Form to have the full value returned to your purchasing card. Otherwise, if you did not purchase the WORKS, you may cancel your booking subject to applicable fee values, found here, and less any amount paid for Flight Flexibility. If you cancel your booking, your booking will retain its value for 90 days in the form of a single-use travel credit with no residual value returned to you after use (should there be any). Any amount paid for Flight Flexibility will not be retained by you should you wish to cancel your reservation, regardless of whether or not you made an itinerary change prior to your cancellation.

Tickets must be cancelled prior to the departure of a flight in order to retain their value. Failure to show will result in a refund of the fare, fees, and taxes attributable to the no-show portion of the itinerary, and the application of a service charge in an amount equal to the refunded amount.

Flight and Ticket Itinerary Changes

If you would like to change your itinerary date or time prior to the day of travel, you may do so on your Manage My Booking page by logging into My Trips, subject to the terms below:

- If you purchased the WORKS℠, you may apply the value of your booking to your new booking without any penalty, subject to any difference in fare and/or options prices, and with no residual value retained by you (should there be any).

- If you purchased Flight Flexibility, your first itinerary change, which must be made on the flystarline.com website or via Airstar’s mobile app, is guaranteed to  be without a change fee, subject to the terms in this section. Note that you may qualify for a change fee waiver  or $0 change fee for more than one reason, including the purchase of Flight Flexibility; regardless, your first itinerary change will be considered the use of your Flight Flexibility option. If you purchase Flight Flexibility and choose to change your flight(s), you may apply the value of your original booking  to your new itinerary without any penalty, subject to any difference in fare and/or options prices, and with no residual value retained by you (should there be any). The Flight Flexibility pricing  may not be applied to any difference in fare and/or options prices. Flight Flexibility may only be used one time in one session to make a change or changes to your itinerary, which may include both directions of a round trip, and different flight dates, as applicable and allowed by the flystarline.com website or the Airstar Airlines mobile apps, provided any combination you should wish to make for your new flights be done at the same time, and must be done on flystarline.com or on one of the Airstar Airlines mobile applications , and must be completed more than 24 hours before your flight’s departure. This offer does not extend to “splitting” reservations, when passengers on the same reservation make changes differently from one another. Any subsequent changes to the reservation will be charged the applicable fee (as detailed here), and subject to any difference in fare and/or options prices, with no residual value retained by you (should there be any). DO NOT CALL the call center or request airport agents to use your Flight Flexibility option; Flight Flexibility will not be honored by call center agents or agents at the airport; any voluntary change you make through a call center agent or airport agent will be charged the applicable fee and any subsequent change you wish to make, via flystarline.com, the Airstar mobile applications, or via call center or airport agent will also be charged the applicable fee value (as detailed here). For the sake of clarity: if you purchase Flight Flexibility and call the call center to make a change, you will be charged for the change and you will forgo any benefit from Flight Flexibility for your reservation at that point or any point later.

- If you did not purchase the WORKS℠ or Flight Flexibility, you may apply the value of your original booking to your new booking, after paying the applicable change fee  (detailed here), and subject to any difference in fare and/or options prices, with no residual value retained by you (should there be any). CHANGES ON YOUR DAY OF TRAVEL

For changes to tickets on the day of travel, Airstar offers two options - standby travel and same-day confirmed alternate flight changes.

Standby travel

Airstar offers AIRSTAR ELITEs the opportunity to standby for an earlier or later flight on your day of travel for no fee. Standby travel on eligible tickets must follow the original ticketed itinerary, meaning if you were booked on a nonstop flight you cannot add a connection to the itinerary or vice versa. If you are eligible for standby travel, you may request to fly standby on another flight on your day of travel at the airport ticket counter or gate

Same-day confirmed flight changes

Subject to availability, you may change to an earlier or later flight on the day of travel for a non-refundable fee per person found here, provided you are travelling between your ticketed origin and destination cities. However, the groups of airports below will be considered the same city for same day confirmed and standby purposes. This means that if you are booked to fly to/from an airport in each group, you may request a same-day confirmed alternate flight change or standby travel (if eligible) to fly to/from another airport in the group if there is a seat available by paying the applicable fee described above.

Same Day Flights to Alternative Airports:

  • Washington Dulles (IAD) & Washington National (DCA)
  • Chicago-O'Hare Airport (ORD), IL & Milwaukee (MKE), WI
  • Lauderdale (FLL) & West Palm Beach (PBI) FL

Name Change

Please note that if you must make an itinerary change (date changes or city changes) in addition to the name change, both the name change fee and the itinerary change fee described above will apply.
