Ichabod the Whooping Crane

The tallest bird in North America and the rarest crane species, the whooping crane is found on the coastal wetlands of Texas in winter months and western Canada during the summer. The whooping crane is known for its red forehead, black mustache, and black wingtips. Whooping cranes stand an average of 5 feet tall, with a wingspan of over 7 feet. Whooping cranes are named for the unique whooping sound they make as a mating call - which is coupled with an elaborate dance. Do you know what story that Ichabod is named after?
